excuse me miss, id like to bitch a little

here's one of the reasons why Indonesia (my homeland, where i was born, grew up, and sold drugs for many years) will stay a third world country: Nokia 9500.

how could a cell phone (im sorry, by cell phone i meant to say a multifunction communication device) keep a country like Indonesia behind?

while Americans are still ooh-and-aah-ing over the Moto RoKr (I'm also opposed to Motorola naming convention, but this is a separate issue) compatibility with iTunes, Indonesians are busy making purchases of Nokia 9500.

and this is a shame.

we let ourselves being dumbed by the 'latest trends'. there's a hereditary constant need to stay on top of the latest trends to legitimize (that a word? i think so) our social status. hence there's a huge market there for latest cell phones, clothing, cars...!! i won't be surprised if the majority users of the said 'device' aren't businessman/woman who are always on the go or surgeons, rather they are filthy rich housewives and high school kids whose husbands/fathers are corrupted greedy bastards and those who don't give a damn crap about people trying to rebuild their lives after the tsunami in just an island away.

this makes me sad and embarassed. i know there are many Indonesians who trully care about making changes, moving forward, but it just isnt happening when the people who don't give a damn doubled or tripled the number.

sorry to sound like a bono. there's no call to action tho, im just bitching like always.

Did you read about Liem sui liong's bday bash in singapore? Total cost = Rp. 20 Milyar saja..

I guess it's their business how they spent their money, but I can't help being slightly horrified to have a friend (whose father was a Kapolda) had THREE CBU cars for HERSELF. It's that sickening feeling I got whenever I read Tatler magazine, especially the interview page. Or the socialite page with the women posing their handbags, yes posing their handbags, not posing WITH the bags. I find it really sad when you need to have the LATEST, most expensive Gucci/hermes/dior bags to feel remotely worthy. I kind of pity them, are they really that insecure?

see their insecurity isn't my problem, but when their spending habit creates this huge gap in social economy that becomes the country's problem and mine as well.

you see, we're being bullied by the international business. they know no matter how fucking ridiculous they put a price tag on an item, the kind that won't even be around the next 2-3 months (or will have lesser image value, since there will be people imitating and selling it in mangga dua right?), people are still gonna buy it.

yeah fuck those guys.
